AMALA BHARATAM CAMPAIGN

‘Amala Bharatam Campaign’, a noble initiative by Mata Amritanandamayi Math, came into force on the occasion of the 57th birthday anniversary of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi on 27th Sep2010 in Kerala and reached Delhi on the chilly cold morning of January 9, 2011.The campaign was inaugurated by the Lt. Governor Shri. Tejender Khanna in the presence of the Vice-Chairman of the Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri ji. Also present at the occasion were Delhi Finance and Urban Development Minister Shri. A.K.walia and Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Shri. T.K.A Nair. Cleanliness of roads, installation of urinals and garbage bins were some of the objectives of the drive. On the day of inauguration, office bearers of the Math informed that this campaign would reach everywhere in Delhi. Once Swamiji made all the volunteers take the oath, hundreds of children from various schools and other volunteers took to the streets armed with cleaning tools. Thousands of people were standing in unity holding brooms and shovels on the road. They were the people who were determined and confident to generate awareness about cleanliness and sanitation in India under the campaign. Swami Amrita Swarupananda puriji took the most difficult part of the operation to clean the municipal collection point with volunteers which was over flowing with decomposing waste combined with the stench of sewage. The students of Amrita Vidyalayam, Saket, participated in the drive with alacrity. With leaflets in their hands and love for their mother nature in their hearts, these students hit the roads and conveyed a message all around that keeping Delhi green and clean is the need of the hour.

AMALA BHARATAM DENGUE CAMPAIGN

Amrita Vidyalayam, Saket, organized a campaign to spread the awareness of Dengue fever among people. As a part of the campaign, students of the school underwent a noble cause and visited the neighboring colonies of Pushp Vihar. Under the able guidance of teachers, they made people aware of the causes, symptoms and precautions of Dengue fever. Two students dressed as mosquitoes made the campaign interactive and caught attention of the passers-by. The students who were once in the grip of the fever shared their personal experiences with all. To make the campaign more informative, students even showed them the sites of stagnant water where the disease gets its origin. Some enthusiastic students distributed leaflets among people. Informative posters were displayed by them. A street play was held and it proved a crowd puller. A melodious song was composed by students. The school assured to continue with such endeavors to promote awareness among people by means of such a noble cause.
