Crusade against Squalor
Keeping the surroundings spick and span is the prime duty of every individual. Amrita Vidyalayam, Delhi always gives prime importance to cleanliness and hygiene. Hence, Swachhata Hi Seva programme, a noble initiative taken up by the Government of India, has been wholeheartedly embraced by both teachers and learners of the institution.
On 15th of September, 2018, the principal and teachers took the students of grades IX to XII out for cleaning up the area around the school premises. They collected the non-biodegradable waste, such as plastic bags, disposable food plates, cutlery etc., which causes irrevocable damage to the environment. In addition to that the pupils of grades VI-VIII took part in ‘shramdaan’ activity and tidied up the school campus. This included removing dry leaves from the lawn, collecting and segregating dry and wet waste and their appropriate disposal. Safety gears such as gloves, mask etc. were provided by the school.
These activities helped the students realize that Mother Nature is in the dire need of dedicated stewards who would ensure her wellbeing and that they must be committed towards this cause.
