Rendezvous with Japanese Students
On the auspicious occasion of Saraswati puja, a group of sixty eight Japanese students visited Amrita Vidyalayam, Delhi. We were delighted to meet a host of energetic youngsters whose chief purpose of coming to India was to build abodes for the flood victims. Tired of pursuing materialistic pleasures, they had come to join the housing project for the survivors of the deluge, taken up by Mata Amritanandamayi Math. They asserted the believe that inner peace can be achieved only through selfless service. An hour long discussion between Amritians and the students from Japan was indeed very enriching and enjoyable. We were curious to know about their culture and education system, whereas the Japanese students asked us an array of questions about different states of India. Students were impressed to see their conviction in the ideology of selfless service and compassion. The most amazing thing was to see the Japanese nationals bowing down and greeting everybody saying, “Om NamahShivaya”!
